I recently come to know about this project, the Pertiwi Soup Kitchen from my Mom. Her good friend Puan Munirah Abdul Hamid is one of those people who is actively involved in this noble project. Her sisters are the founders of Pertiwi (the Islamic Women's Action Organization or Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam Malaysia) which is an NGO that focuses on outreach, social work and the education of women, teens and children in Malaysia.

In the effort of feeding the poor people, Pertiwi launched this noble charity project called Pertiwi Soup Kitchen. This project started in March 2010 and has continued till now. They collected donations from the public and they would provide the food.....and distribute them to the poor and hungry people in areas like Chow Kit, Masjid India and Jalan Tun H.S Lee. But I do think that they have also alternate the locations every now and then as there are many other locations where there are poor and hungry mouths to feed.  Four times in a week, they would distribute the food that is prepacked and drinks too to the poor. So far, there are a lot of volunteers who participated in helping to distribute the food and drinks.... and also helping to find donations for this project.

I wish I was staying in KL so that I can participate in this charity project. But I guess there are other charity organizations here that I can pitch in too. The point is, there are so many ways in helping out the poor or people who are in need of our help. We just need to look.....and not close our eyes and forget about them. Reach out and touch......somebody's hand.....and make this world a better place.....if you can...... :)
