What a lovely lovely surprise! I was happily having breakfast with my Mom this morning and suddenly we saw this White-Throated Kingfisher in our garden. What a rare sight! I quickly went to grab my digital camera and started taking videos of the bird and also snapped some photos of it. I was so afraid that the bird would notice me. Luckily it didn't! I was very very quiet! hehe!
I've seen this bird many times before in our neighbourhood. Every time I go out for my morning ride at the park, I would see them on the telephone line or up on the trees. It's never easy to get a shot of it. They are not that tame and are easily scared whenever they see humans staring at them hehehe.
But I managed to take a shot of it coz we made a cage outside our house like the photo you see above. I just love having breakfast and dinner here because we get to enjoy the fresh air minus all the flies, mosquitoes and bird poo! LOL! ;) Even the birds don't notice us when we take photos or videos of them when we are standing inside the cage. The minute they see us outside the cage, they would fly away. So I guess the cage sort of like camouflaged us a bit hehehe. I can now take more photos of nature without disturbing them. Love it!
This video was taken on 30th of July 2013 but only now do I have some little time to blog about it. I was doing laundry at the back of the house when I thought of checking out the gherkin tree to see if there are any new gherkins available for me to pick out.
But as I got near to the gherkin tree, I noticed something that was out of the ordinary about the tree. One of the branch looked extra big and shiny. That's when I realised it wasn't a branch. It was the body of the green tree snake!! Yikes!!!
I got really scared and ran into the house. But I guess I wasn't that scared to take a video of it ehehe! So I did. Luckily there are windows in the kitchen that are just a feet away from the gherkin tree. So I just stood by the window and recorded a video of the snake. I was happy that a couple of the Yellow-vented Bulbul dropped by and made an appearance in the video too! heheh!
I took a video of the Yellow-vented Bulbul birds just the other day.......I was inside the house standing right by the window when taking the video. Those birds didn't even notice me standing there.....I was so quiet....never made a sound......while they happily ate the flowers of the bean tree.
They've been eating the flowers almost every day now. So much so that we could never get the chance to see the beans grow because they've been eating up all the flowers. Poor tree!
But even so.....it's always a joy to watch the birds eat....and flying playfully in the garden outside our house. We don't have pet birds but these birds are like pets except that they are free to fly and roam anywhere they like and be free to do what they want.
I really enjoy watching them. It's the simple joys of life......simple things that makes us happy.....the little things that reminds us of our Creator.....and how wonderful His creations are. :)
I was spying on a couple of birds that were making a nest at our house a few weeks back. Soon enough the nest were ready and one day I saw 2 little eggs inside it. Guess where the nest is??? See the photo below! eheheh!
Below is the video I took of them before they left their nest......lots of fur on their bodies and they can fly now. I'm gonna miss them.
Below are the photos of the mother and father of these little baby birds. They are called the Yellow-vented Bulbul....or in Malay, they are called Burung Merbah Kapur. Sorry if the photo of the birds are not that clear.....I had a hard time trying to take a photo of them, since they would fly away once they catch me trying to take their picture ehehehe. I took the photos from the window in my studio....that was the only way they wouldn't notice me. :)
I gotta shock this morning as I was busy working in my room, suddenly I heard such loud sounds of the Black Naped Oriole outside the house. I quickly ran towards the window and saw about 4-5 of them on the banana trees having their morning chat....ahahaha.....I was just guessing about what they were doing. Only God knows what on earth were they saying to each other. First time for me to see so many of them at one time. Usually it's only 1 or two.
I managed to grab my camera and took a video of them. Pretty difficult to do it because I had to do it while I'm inside the house. I can't go out and take videos of them because that would scare them and chase them away. So I had to be quick! Luckily I managed to get a shot of them before they flew off to another location. :)
How I wish I can just sing this healing song and heal what has been hurt..............change the fate's design.........save what has been lost........bring back what once was mine......
If only I got the healing power to do so........................... >.<
About 2 months ago if I'm not mistaken, I found out about this new technique of learning how to read the Al-Quran called the Al-Baghdadi from the Assalamualaikum program on TV AlHijrah. I've always been looking for more effective technique of learning how to read the Al-Quran and I sure am glad I found it.
I attended the club today at Kompleks Alor Setar (also known as Kompleks Kancut), and I was amazed by the teaching technique and I find it very very interesting indeed. I could understand now why this technique is better than the older technique of learning. The technique is suitable for young children and even for adults too who have zero knowledge on the basics of reading the Al-Quran.
Those who go to learn it will probably get to teach others as well after they finish the course....and that's what so special about it to begin with because the method is very easy to apply on everyone. Parents who go through this course can later teach their own children at home using this method too.
Who knows maybe one day I will be able to teach others as well using this method, insyaAllah......may Allah make my dream come true, amin...... :)
You can have a look at the example of how the technique is applied at the video below:
Yes!!! I finally managed to upload that video on YouTube today!Yippee! I was having so much trouble uploading it yesterday...huhuhu. Now I get to share it with everyone....my SO amateurish video that is! LOL! :D
The Black Naped Oriole bird was making a lot of noise yesterday morning. Singing away with a bunch of it's friends on the rambutan tree. I just had to take a video of them singing. So off I went into the garden, slowly walking towards them and trying my level best not to scare them away. You can spot a glimpse of those yellow birds at 00.35 minutes and the clearest view of one of them at 2.29 minutes. I felt like a National Geographic bird hunter or something hahaha......oh well.....it was just for fun ;). The bird is yellow and black in colour just like the photo you see above. I got that photo from Wikipedia :). Enjoy the video!!! Hope you get to spot that yellow bird ;).
My own personal view: I hate to admit it.....but I have to say that what he is saying is kinda true. :P I have realised this a long time ago about myself and have been working on trying to not over think things too much. Because I know for a fact that not only guys can't stand it when girls do that......but I can't stand it either. It's exhausting and annoying.
What a lovely surprise! I received a thank you card from my dear friend CC Peyton this afternoon and judging by the thickness of the card, I thought it was a pop up card. But to my surprise, it's one of those cards with voices in it. It's so funny listening to what they said!! Have a listen to the video I took below :D. Thank you CC! I love it so much!! ;)
It's all about making someone smile. And that someone happens to be a very good friend of mine, CC Peyton. I made this video just for her because she was curious to know how my aunt did the criss cross crochet pattern on the pouch that my aunt made for her last Christmas.
In the beginning I was thinking of scanning the pattern from the crochet book but since my aunt made some changes to the original pattern, it would be difficult for me to explain to her how my aunt did it. So, we thought that it would be a great idea if I would do a video tutorial instead. All I did was took a video of my aunt doing that criss cross pattern for my dear friend to see. It's just that particular part that she is curious about so that's all we did.
Hopefully she'll get the idea once she views the video and will be able to make that criss cross pattern for her own crochet project soon. ;) All the best to you dear CC! ;)
Who says you can't do it? It's mind over matter. There's always a first for everything. And for me today, it would be about making my own video. My first video. Honestly, I've never done it before. Have no idea how to go about it as well. But I guess there was a divine intervention???? Hahahahahaha! I don't know. Coz I just can't figure out how I managed to somehow handle the digital camera on my own and pushed the right buttons on it to get what I was aiming for.
You see.....the thing is, I already went to see the experts at the camera shop to ask them how can I do a video using my digital camera. After checking it, they said that my camera can't take any videos because it doesn't have a memory card. Even though I did wanted to buy the memory card there and then, but I couldn't! Why? Because it no longer exist!! Yup!! You heard me....it is no longer in production. LOL! That just goes to show how old my camera is....hahahaha! I was so frustrated about it and was trying to figure out how else can I take a video. You see, I wanted so badly to do craft tutorials on my blog. And being able to do a video of about it would be bliss. But because of this tiny issue, I couldn't. I simply couldn't accept this!
And so after much playing with the camera, I finally found the way to make a video. I kept wondering why didn't those guys at the camera shop tell me about it. If I had not given it a try, I would have never known that it can still take videos, even without the memory card. But it can only record for 1 minute and 30 seconds haha! I just didn't care! All I care about is how do I capture something within that amount of time. How to get the message across in such a short time. After much experiment and recording about 10 videos.....recording and deleting one after another, I finally get to record one that I was satisfied with.
I then did something else too......another "first" for me. Uploading the video on Youtube! Yup! I've never done it before and didn't have the slightest clue on how to do it. I just followed my heart and of course had to crack my brain as well. The whole video thingy was pretty challenging but it was an awesome feeling when I managed to get it done. I really surprised myself today.
Here's the video I made. A very very simple video. No voice, no wordings. Nothing but my hands showing how to make a flower. Straight to the point. Got the information across . Hopefully the video answered a lot of inquiries from my readers at my card blog. They have been asking me to show them how to make that flower for a long time already. At least I made a lot of people happy today. ;)
