500 Days of Summer

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! Love it lots! I've seen it before but never the whole movie....just snippets of it most  of the time. But this time I got the chance to watch the whole movie and it's so brilliant. No wonder so many people love it so much. Whoever made it is brilliant. I love the combination between the two characters......their chemistry and all. They were perfect.

Plus there's so much to learn from this movie and how I wish that a lot of people out there can learn from it too. This is not a love story but it's a story that teaches us about love. Once we watch this movie, we'll definitely look back on our past relationships and see the connection it has with this story. We'll definitely will be able to tell if what we had before was really true love or was it just an infatuation we had with our "so called partner". Did our partner feel that we were his or her true love?? We'll get our answer once we watch this movie....... and oh yessss...........it also teaches us how to deal with heartbreaks....if we have any. How to get pass it and how to move on with our lives.

Note: I noticed that in a lot of love story movies, their heroin/hero wears a lot of clothes that are blue in colour.....lots of shades of blue.......I often wondered why :).....perhaps there is a symbolic meaning to it....How come they didn't choose red or pink instead.....why blue......It makes me happy though, cause blue is my favourite colour, no matter what shade it is.....as long as it's blue ;).

Black Swan

I saw this movie, a psychological thriller on Astro the other day and God willing I'll never watch it again...huhuhu. It's so scary freaky chilling my bones hair rising experience I've had in a long long time. >.<

Some of the parts of the scenes I can barely open my eyes. Half shut, fully shut and sometimes all eyes wide open hah! Natalie Portman gave it her best in portraying this character and it's no wonder she got an Oscar for it. Amazing acting.

Although Astro cut a lot of scenes in the movie, I did understand it in my own way and it's kinda sad really. How Nina lived her life with a controlling mother like that. Sometimes I think parents should give their kids a little space. Can't keep them caged forever. Sooner or later, they will rebel. Her determination to realise her dreams were so strong.....but she just didn't know how to get there......and she just pushed herself too hard.....her mind couldn't take it.......she just lost it. Such a sad ending.....

Morning Glory

I love all three actors above. Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton and Rachel McAdams. I saw this movie for the first time today on Astro and I wanna watch it again. Just love it!! So inspiring, so funny, so intelligent, so everything. Just love everything about it.

I knew it was a good movie the minute I saw the cast and I just had to watch it. I'm glad I did. The character played by Rachel McAdams in this movie, is super awesome. I can relate to what she is going through. Having a mother who doesn't see her potential and wanting her to change jobs.....and her believe in herself that is so great that it doesn't matter to her what her mother thinks coz she knows her own potential and what she can do as long as she is given the opportunity. She knows that she can excel in the job she loves doing most.

It's about going for your dreams and never giving up no matter what. I can see the passion, the drive, the hard work, the strong heart that she has in this movie. Delivered beautifully by Rachel McAdams. :)

Ombak Rindu

After been hearing a lot of good reviews about this film, I decided to go and watch the film last Friday. I don't like to watch it alone so I brought someone with me hihi. It's been a while since I last watched any film at the cineplex. The last one would be Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa if I am not mistaken. Yes a another Malay movie :).

In the spirit of supporting Malay films, off we went on Thursday but the tickets were all sold out when we got there. I was really surprised! Since I didn't want to miss it, I bought the tickets for the next day. Got good seats too. :) So on Friday we went there again! haha!

I was all prepared to cry...hehehe.....because according to the reviews, this is a really really sad movie. It is based on a novel by Fauziah Ashari. If you watch it, you are bound to shed some tears....if not many, at least a few drops..haha. So I was all prepared for it. Packed some tissues in my bag and ready to cry my heart out. And cried a lot I did! haha! I never expected that I would cry so much in the cineplex. I thought I was able to control myself. I thought it wasn't going to be so sad. I was so wrong! I just couldn't help myself. It was inevitable! It was so SAD!!! Arrrggghhh! My eyes were all swollen at the end of the show. :D

It's such a beautiful story. Beautifully acted by the lovely Maya Karin. I really loved her performance in this film. She really nailed the part. I can't imagine anyone else play the part. It was because of her that I cried so much.

Because of this film, now I have the interest in reading the book itself. My aunt says that she has the book. She read it years ago. Perhaps one day I'll find the time to read it. It's much more interesting to read the book because it's more complete. They can't tell the whole story in film.....not enough time to tell everything, so they simplified it. For those who have read the book, they might be disappointed when they watch the film. But for me since I've never read it before, I was quite happy with it.

Although I didn't really like Lisa Surihani's acting in this film. I don't think she is the best person to play that character. She's just too sweet a person and too cute to be playing the part. It didn't seem real enough for me. Well, that's just my opinion. :)

I noticed that there are scenes in the film that were shot in Kedah! Yay! One was at the railway station in Alor Setar. Gosh the place looks so different in film....I almost didn't recognize it at first  hahaha. There were many scenes of the paddy fields as well......loved it :). Reminds me of home. :)

Magika

Last night I actually watched this movie "Magika" on Astro. If you knew me well, you would be very very surprised as to why I watched it. Well, I watched it mainly because I was so curious to know if the movie was good or not since it won so many awards recently.

I gotta admit......the screenplay was pretty ok.....no time at all for me to feel bored as it was pretty fast moving. Initially I only wanted to watch it for 10 minutes. In the end......I watched the whole thing!. :P But.....there were many times I had to turn off the sound of the TV because I couldn't stand listening to Dania Danielle and Mawi singing hahahaha! Awful!!! Can't take it! So I had to turn off the sound for a while until they finished singing. LOL! They sang a few times in the movie......so I had to turn off the volume a few times too! hehe! I didn't want my ears to bleed. :P

Honestly since it's a musical......so most of the characters in this movie had to sing out some of their dialogues. I've seen a lot of musicals before and this particular one seems funny to me hehehe.....well, I applaud them for trying their best to make a good musical....but I know they can do better next time.

There were a few scenes in the movie that I love......pretty funny! One example is the part when the Nenek Kebayan answered the phone (which was made from an empty tin). I really didn't expect that! It reminded me of my childhood days! We used to play like that when we were younger. And Ziana Zain is so funny! She's a really good actress. Love her! I think she was the most outstanding in the movie.

Another thing that caught my eyes was a scene with Adibah Noor in it where I saw they made a TV using the "wayang kulit"! So cool! Wonder who thought of that idea! haha! :D It's so funny! Imagine having a TV like that. Pretty interesting!

Overall, I would give the movie 3 stars. And honestly I can only watch it once. Once is enough. hehehe! :)

The Proposal

Just got back home. Went to watch the movie "The Proposal" at my aunt's house earlier hehehe.... It's so nice to have a neighbour close by who is also my aunt......living just a stone throw away from where I live. I can go and hang out with her anytime I like. Cool!

Ok....now my review about the movie hehehe......I'm actually a bit blurry about what happened in the beginning and middle of the movie because all I can remember right now, that's stuck in my mind is the part when they kissed in the end....hahahaha......ok, ok, I might sound so gatal right now but what can I say hehehe.....it's so sweet! LOL! Ok, if you read this and you feel like you want to "melugai" or vomit or puke.....please, by all means...... :P

Honestly..... I love this movie...a lot. A romantic comedy that really touched my heart. It tells on how we shouldn't judge a book by it's covers. Never judge a person just by their appearance or by how they act with you.  Sometimes they  hide their true self or have forgotten who they were before because of a tragedy that had happened in their life or because they went through a traumatic experience.

Family..........having a family is important. Loving them is important. Being loved by your family is important too. There's nothing better than being around your family. Especially knowing how much they love you and appreciate having you around.

I've always loved Sandra Bullock's acting. If I knew she acted in a particular film, I would surely go and watch it. She's the real deal. I love watching her act and how she brings the character to life. She may not be the most gorgeous actress around.....but she delivers, she's really honest with her feelings, her emotions shows in all the films she acted in.

Who cannot like Betty White???? She's a darling! Loved her in the Golden Girls and in this film too! Funny as always! Makes me wish I have a grandma like her hehehe. And Ryan Reynolds??? Aaaaaaaaaahhhh....he's a dream........and I shall keep on dreaming! LOL! :D

Enthiran

WOW....what a day! I was out from morning till evening! So packed with activities today. Cycling, brisk walking....then went to see the doctor at the clinic (hehehe...dapat jumpa doktor cute, baru grad agaknya...a bit blur2 gitu but very very nice!).....and then went to the hospital (unfortunately, have to go there again on Monday coz the surgeon is not in :( .... ).....and then went to the post office to post the giveaway prizes (hehehe dapat jumpa that cute postal clerk again....sigh, adik, awatlah hang comei lote sangat hehehehe ;)) .......and then went to catch a movie -----> ENTHIRAN! Yeah!!! I've been wanting to watch this movie ever since I found out about it online. I went with my aunt who is also a fan of Rajinikanth. :) I adore this guy since I was a teenager. Love his acting, his films.....he is great....a real super star!

Something funny happened as we were waiting inside the theater before the film started. A couple of Indian boys seated beside my aunt asked her...."Makcik...Makcik nak tengok cerita apa ya?", then my aunt answered, "Makcik nak tengok cerita Enthiran laaa.."....then of the boys said, "Tapi, cerita ni cerita Tamil Makcik.....Makcik faham ka depa cakap Tamil?" hahahahahhahahaha! I just couldn't stop laughing!!! We both assured the boys that we can understand, because there will be English subtitles in the film....so, no worries, for we surely will understand every bit of the film. :D I bet they thought that we were in the wrong theater LOL! And most of the Indians there were staring at us.....they must be wondering why these two Malay ladies want to watch this film......little did they know that a lot of Malays love to watch Tamil films......I was there all because of Rajinikanth.....and it was all worth it! :)

I was really surprised with the story line......a little different from the way Rajinikanth films used to be.  A lot of CGI in this film. It was crazy funny as well. I was laughing a lot I tell ya!! All in all, I still prefer his older films.....Padaiyappa, Muthu, Sivaji The Boss and Chandramukhi......more charisma and of course great punchlines. I especially love how he moves and the tricks he would do in his films.....amazing tricks I tell ya! He is totally awesome! I would strongly recommend people to go and watch this film......it's more amazing to watch it at the cinema! :)

Lu Pikir La Sendiri De Movie

I can't believe it. I actually watched this movie at least 4 times! hahaha! Yup.....believe it or not! It was showing on Astro Box-office recently and after watching it once, I just had to watch it again and again. Believe me, if I didn't have anything to do, I would have done it and you know how Astro works right? They would repeat the same movie so many times in a day and they go on showing it a few days. So definitely I get to watch it, but because of work load, I can't do that.:(

Believe me I was so surprise with this story. The way it was told......the music + songs in it.....the lesson to be learn from this movie and many many more good things about this movie.....that got me stuck to my seat till the end of the show. Not forgetting how FUNNY the movie was! Gosh....it's so funny!

I was surprised by the amazing cast as well. Surprised that there were many famous faces starring in this movie like Amy Search, Harun Salim Bachik, Faizal Tahir, Aziz M. Osman, Vanida Imran and many more. The movie was directed by a lady director! Yup.....Ms. Aminah Rhapor. So cool! She also did the screenplay and script as well! How cool is that?! It's awesome to know that she wrote the script......coz I thought it was brilliant! hehe! The whole movie was fast paced and the screenplay was done so well. I didn't feel bored at all. I usually do with Malay films. But not this one!

It's actually a very simple story. About the struggles of a young man trying to make ends meet....trying to survive doing 2 -3 jobs at one time. How he made it big in the end after going through so much of hardship. There is also a love story....yup, there usually is in Malay films hehehe.....but this one I love because it's not overly done. Love and hate kinda love story hahaha....Good ending though....I love good endings :)

I love all the songs in this movie. But the one I love best is not available on Youtube.....the full version of it that is. It's called "Tak Keseorangan" by L.Danielle. It's a new band from Malaysia. I also love the song from Sofaz called "Ku Janji", songs from Meet Uncle Hussein...... :) All good songs!

Check out the video clips of the movie below where there is that song I love so much! :) And also....favourite scenes from the movie :). Actually there are many favourite scenes from the movie....but I can't be posting all of it here. So, you guys can view them at  Youtube ya! :)

Invitation to Premiere Screening of Inception

I received an email from Nuffnang last week saying that I won 2 invites to watch the premiere screening of Inception on the 14th of July 2010, 9.30 pm, at GSC Midvalley Megamall.  Thank you Nuffnang!!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that email!! :D A beginners luck I thought to myself, because this is the first time ever I participated in Nuffnang's premiere screening contest and won! YAY!!! I never thought that my blog post for the contest would be selected as one of the most creative to win the invites....awesome!! hahahaha.....Check out my blog post  for the contest HERE.

I had to travel to Kuala Lumpur to watch this film.....I went there last Tuesday, watch the film on  Wednesday and came back to Alor Setar on Thursday. PHEW!!! Just a short visit....a short break from work to enjoy myself and have some fun once in a while :). Since this is the first time I've ever won such a contest, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know that the seating in the cineplex were given to us based on first come first serve, therefore whoever lined up first at the Inception booth would get the best seating in the cineplex. So,  even though I was there with my sis right on time for us to pick up our tickets, looks like many more were there lining up for it much earlier than us. So in the end, we got the 3rd row from the screen seats ! LOL! I was so surprised but was positive about it and just slide my body in position on my seat, and did my level best to stay comfortable throughout the film hahahaha.

From the trailer, I knew this film was going to be great....and sure enough after watching it, I find it mind blowing! Worth every minute of my time spent watching it I tell ya! It was so cool! I was left speechless when the film ended......I just kept saying WOW! many many times...I think it's better I don't tell how the story goes, coz then it won't be a surprise for those who are interested to catch this film. But what I can say is that I love Leonardo DiCaprio's acting.....same goes to one of my favourite actress, Ellen Page.....both gave a great performance in this film. Love the special effects, they were really spectacular....love the screenplay  too. From beginning till the end.....I couldn't predict what was going to happen next....it just kept getting better and better....more and more intense.....even the ending was quite unexpected. Very entertaining....no time for feeling bored at all coz it's action packed....non stop! Fast paced. I wouldn't mind watching it again and again. ;).

Under The Tuscan Sun

I saw this movie last night........so beautiful.....another beautiful film on channel 413 Star Movies, Astro.  It's a must see movie!! When I saw it last night, it had already started about 15 minutes I think........so I didn't see it from the beginning. Immediately when I saw Diane Lane starring in it as the main character.....I got stuck and stayed till the end  of the movie because I knew if she was starring in it, it must be a great movie to watch! It usually is! :)

Only after the movie was over that I realized the movie was based on a memoir of the same name. Written by Frances Mayes.....the character acted by Diane Lane. She was perfect for the part....just perfect! I would love to read the memoir....I'm sure it's more beautiful than watching the movie itself. :)

Read about the plot below (taken from Wikipedia):
"Frances Mayes (Diane Lane) is a San Francisco writer whose seemingly perfect life has just taken an unexpected detour. She finds out at a party that she's hosting, from a writer to whom she had given a bad review of his book, that her husband has been cheating on her. Her recent divorce has left her depressed and with terminal writer's block, and her best friend Patti (Sandra Oh), a lesbian who is expecting a child, is beginning to think Frances might never recover. Patti convinces her to take an Italian vacation, to Tuscany, but it's on a gay tour (Patti and her partner Grace (Kate Walsh) had booked it for themselves, but changed plans after Patti became pregnant). At first she refuses, but then after being in her new, gloomy apartment, she decides that it is a good idea to get away for a little while after all. In Tuscany, while stopping in a small town she sees a notice about a villa for sale, in Cortona. Then while the passengers are back on the tour bus, the bus has to stop to let a herd of sheep pass, and Frances realizes that they've stopped in front of the very villa that she had seen for sale, something she believes is a sign. She asks the driver to stop and she gets off the bus. In a series of serendipitous events she becomes the owner of a lovely yet dilapidated villa in beautiful Tuscany. From this point her life begins anew with a variety of interesting characters and unusual but gentle Polish immigrants to renovate the house. Over time, Frances also befriends her Italian neighbors and develops relationships with her Polish workers, the realtor who sold her the villa, and Katherine, an eccentric, aging, British actress. Later, she is visited by the now very pregnant Patti, whose partner Grace has left her. Frances does meet a romantic interest, Marcello, but it does not last, and she is about to give up on happiness when two young lovers come to her for help. Eventually, she finds the fulfillment she was searching for in a wedding at the villa, where she also meets an American writer who is traveling in Tuscany. The movie ends with a new love in her life."

There were a few lines in the movie that captured my heart.......it made perfect sense to me. Mostly I love what character Katherine said in the movie, played by Lindsay Duncan....her quotes from the movie are the best. I also love quotes from Frances herself.... :)

Katherine:
- "Regrets are a waste of time. They're the past crippling you in the present."

- "No matter what happens, always keep your childish innocence. It's the most important thing."

- "Grow in every direction you can and things will come your way. Experiment where you want."

 Frances:
 - "I looked for it and I didn't find it — but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist."

- "What is it about love that makes us so stupid?"

- Do you know the most surprising thing about divorce? It doesn't actually kill you. Like a bullet to the heart or a head-on car wreck. It should. When someone you've promised to cherish till death do you part says "I never loved you," it should kill you instantly. You shouldn't have to wake up day after day after that, trying to understand how in the world you didn't know. The light just never went on, you know. I must have known, of course, but I was too scared to see the truth. Then fear just makes you so stupid.

I also love this tag line from the movie:
- "Life offers you a thousand chances... all you have to do is take one."

I would love to watch this movie again.....and again .....and again.... :)

The Mexican

Last night my Mom and I watched "THE MEXICAN" on TV2. It's not a new movie......it was made in 2001.....I've never watched it before from beginning to the end. I have watched like snippets of it...but never the whole story......so last night I managed to watch it all.  My God....I never thought this type of action movie can actually make me cry! Can't tell  you how many tissue paper was sacrificed during the whole show...LOL! How can I describe to you  how interesting this film is and how great the message about love was told in this story.

It's about a man (Brad Pitt),who tries to transport an ancient gun called The Mexican, believed to carry a curse, back across the border, while his girlfriend (Julia Roberts), pressures him to give up his criminal ways. At first I thought I didn't want to watch it because I wanted to finish up my work but I ended up watching it from my working room LOL! So I watched and during the commercials I worked hahahaha......teruknye!! I couldn't help it....I was pulled in the story.....stuck like a magnet! I would say that the character played by James Gandolfini (Winston) in this movie was the best! I cried a lot because of him! huhuhuhu......such a sensitive person for a cold blooded killer hehehe......the bond he and Samantha had in this movie was so great.....like best buddies.....I cried like hell when Jerry (Brad Pitt) shot Winston in head.....I just couldn't accept it! Why oh whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy did he have to die! So sad.......huhuhuhuhu

It's amazing how this Winston who is a gay guy and a cold blooded killer could form a great bond  with Samantha during the hostage period.....they discussed about the problems in relationships....hers with Jerry.....and Winston's as well......he gave a lot of good advise to her. I wish I had a friend like that whom I can discuss about relationships that way......I think we all need that.

The screenplay in this movie was really really great......there wasn't a time at all throughout the movie when I felt bored.....it was non stop action and interesting way of telling the story. That's what makes a movie great....it's in the story telling. It has to be interesting....different.....definitely different......you guys have to see it if you haven't seen it before!

Best dialogue in the movie for me would be this:
Samantha:  I have to ask you a question. It's a good one so think about it. If two people love each other, but they just can't seem to get it together, when do you get to that point of enough is enough?
Jerry: Never.

Another one of my favourite dialogues would be the one where Samantha and Winston went out to have breakfast and they talked about relationships again at the restaurant.....this time about Winston and Frank......how Frank could accept Winston for who he is no matter what or who he was before.......he told Samantha what Frank said to him.....it goes something like this....."The past does not matter......it's the future that counts......" ........God.....that made me cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..........huhuhuhuhu.......it's so beautiful!!!!

Watch this movie if you have not yet seen it......a must watch!!!!

Alice in Wonderland

I had the chance to go catch a movie last Monday with my aunt at Alor Setar Mall. This is the first time for me to go to that mall.....it was really nice! The mall itself looked so run down from the outside, but once you step in, it's totally different! Don't be fooled by the image you see outside! hihihihi!

Well.....actually "Alice in Wonderland" is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. I have been waiting to see this since I saw the trailer last year. Of course another reason for watching is because Johnny Depp is starring in it as the Mad Hatter! I must say the costume design and the makeup is brilliant.....for all characters in this movie. I didn't really like his acting that much in this movie though, but I do like Helena Bonham Carter who played the Red Queen.....she was brilliant!

The only thing that frustrated me was the screenplay and the way the story was told. I found it quite boring....huhuhuhu. I've seen other versions of Alice in Wonderland before and I loved them. Somehow in this one I didn't even though the special effects were so cool.

I noticed that Alice's costumes were mostly made using cloth that came in shades of blue! I love that! I love most of her costumes in this movie.....love her hair too.....it's kinda like mine except she's blonde hihihihihihi! :) I also love that cat! Cheshire cat! He is so charming!

My rating for this movie : 3 / 5

Ayat - Ayat Cinta.........

Last night I saw one of the few beautiful films I believe ever created...."Ayat-Ayat Cinta" which literally means "The Verses of Love". I was attracted to watch it after looking at the trailer on TV3...and also the beautiful song that was sung by the talented Indonesian singer Rossa. I have always loved her singing :). The film was based on a best selling novel written by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. Ayat-Ayat Cinta is a beautifully potrayed Islamic love story.....it is a tale of a virtuous Muslim protagonist who overcomes all obstacles of life maintaining pure ideals...

I actually cried watching this film.....hehehehe lol! How the story was told, the cinematography, art direction, the script .....was all so beautifully done.....can't help but love this film.....However, I don't think I will watch it again if they air it again on TV....one time is enough, because the ending of the story is very very sad......can't bear watching it again. But for those who have never watched it before, I would strongly recommend them watching it, definitely worth it!!! :)
