A couple of days ago, my Mom's friend came over to our house and told me that the money plant my Mom planted at our house is poisonous and can cause cancer! It seems that the plant releases some kinda chemical or whatever it is that is cancerous to us humans and animals.Yikes! I couldn't believe it! I didn't understand how that is possible. She told us that we should just throw the plants away. It seems that most of her Chinese neighbours had already thrown away their money plant. The money plant as you all know is quite a popular plant among the Chinese community as they believe the plant can attract prosperity and wealth into any space....be it at your home or office...anywhere.
My Mom was reluctant to do so because her money plant tree are quite big and growing so nicely....it would be a pity to throw them away just like that. I for one just couldn't believe the story until I find out the facts. I knew I had to do some research about it. So I decided that I should check out if this story is really true. I straight away googled about the money plant. To my surprise, I found out that the money plant is actually really poisonous! BUT! ONLY IF INGESTED! And the whole thing about the plant releasing chemicals that are cancerous to us if planted indoors or out in our garden is just a ridiculous rumor! I wonder who started all this rumor anyways....and why?

Thank God we didn't just believe the story and threw away the plants.....phew! Lesson learned.....don't just believe what people tell you.....find out for yourself if the story is really true. Get the facts straight. :)

Well...there are plants that can be eaten actually...not all are poisonous...
Yup...my Mom's money plants are growing so well...memang sayang woooo nak buang....tidak akan dibuang sama sekali hehehehe

She grows them because they are so pretty....that's all, no other reason.
Hi just curious..now is 2018,your mum still keep the plants? Until now i still heard ppl talking about this plant will bring cancerous.
Well, we don't have the plants anymore now. We replaced them with new plants since a lot of people keep telling us that they are poisonous.
