Sebelum ni pun Lin pernah buat bila badan rasa tak berapa sihat sangat. Kali ni pun atas sebab yang sama. Biasalah kan, bila dah sakit teruk baru nak insaf, haha! Hujung tahun lepas Lin rasa sakit sangat badan ni sampai ke tahap nak buat kerja apa pun susah. Rasa tak larat nak buat apa pun. Masa tu Lin sedar yang Lin kena bertindak cepat sebelum terlambat!</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Bila dah lama tak buat clean eating ni memang rasa susah sangat nak mulakan. Sebab dah terbiasa makan makanan yang bergoreng, banyak lemak dan sebagainya. Jadi nak berhenti seratus peratus tu memang sangat-sangat mencabar ya! Serious memang sangat mencabar terutama sekali bila orang yang duduk serumah dengan kita tak ikut sama diet kita ni. Dia makan makanan yang sedap-sedap, kita hanya boleh tengok je lah kan. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Diet kali ni sangat berbeza berbanding dulu sebab kali ni Lin dah lebih berpengalaman dalam hal ni dan ada lebih banyak pengetahuan berkenaan clean eating ni. Lin juga tak terlalu obsess seperti dulu dalam pemilihan makanan untuk diet ni. Dulu agak ekstrem juga sampai menyusahkan diri sendiri buat menu pelik-pelik ikut cara Mat Saleh sangat, padahal boleh jer ikut cara kita sendiri. Yang penting dalam clean eating ni adalah, elakkan makanan yang diproses dan elakkan pengambilan minyak. Pengambilan garam dan gula pun kena kurangkan ya. Lin lebih suka ada balance dalam diet tu, jangan ekstrem sangat sebab bila ekstrem, kita tak boleh nak teruskan cara pemakanan ni dalam tempoh masa yang lama. Mungkin lepas 2 atau 3 minggu kita akan rasa susah untuk teruskan. Jadi perlu ada balance.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Lin juga rasa tak perlu jadi vegan untuk sihat. Lebihkan makan sayur tu bagus sebenarnya tapi makan lauk pun elok juga. Cuma kena pastikan ada hadnya. Elok sukat apa yang kita nak makan setiap hari. Jangan terlebih dan jangan terkurang. Cara nak masak lauk tu pun kena ubah. No more goreng-goreng ni....kena bakar, stim atau rebus saja.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Rasanya dah 3 minggu dah Lin buat clean eating ni dan badan rasa lebih bermaya untuk buat kerja, lebih ringan dan kuat berbanding sebelum ni. Berat badan pun ada kurang sedikit, alhamdulillah. Bila dah hari-hari makan makanan yang tak berminyak, sekarang ni dah tak lalu nak makan lauk yang berkuah, rasa nak loya tengok minyak berlinangan dalam kuah tu. Asyik dok bayangkan bagaimana minyak tu boleh sumbatkan saluran darah! Aduh ngerinya!</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Kalau untuk sarapan pagi tu, seperti gambar di atas tu, Lin suka sangat makan oats dan susu almond. Lin suka makan oats dengan susu, tapi sebab badan ni ada alahan dengan susu lembu, maka Lin cuba susu almond. Alhamdulillah sesuai. Tak ada rasa kembung perut seperti mana kalau makan dengan susu lembu. Dulu-dulu kalau makan oats, mesti makan dengan kurma atau pisang serta pelbagai kekacang. Sekarang ni, simple saja, oats dan susu almond. Jimat dan mudah. Senang sebab sekarang dah ada orang jual susu almond ni di pasaraya, dulu-dulu memang susah nak dapat kat Alor Setar benda-benda macam ni. Bagus makan nasi berbanding makan roti. Roti pun Lin dah tak makan sekarang ni sebab roti ni menyebabkan alergi juga. Setengah orang memang tak boleh makan makanan berasaskan gandum. Semua kena "gluten" free. Lin termasuk dalam golongan tu, cuma sebab suka sangat dengan roti, kekadang tu buang semua pantang dan bantai makan juga sampai sakt-sakit. Nak puaskan nafsu sampai merana badan. Makan pi la ubat bergantang-gantang pun tapi kalau tak pantang makan, sampai bila-bila pun takkan sembuh. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Sekarang ni suka sangat makan macam ni. Makan nasi dengan ayam bakar atau ikan bakar, sayur kukus, sup sayur dan acar timun atau ulam-ulam dari kebun. Simple tapi sangat menyelerakan. Alhamdulillah dapat makan macam ni sekarang ni. Untuk makan malam pula, Lin cuba elakkan makan nasi, tapi makan sayur banyak dan sedikit lauk. Makan pun agak awal, sebelum pukul 8 malam, semua dah settle. Kekadang tu sebelum pukul 7 malam pun dah settle! Haha! Tak elok makan malam lewat sangat. Nanti perut tak sempat nak hadam sebelum kita tidur.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Apa pun Lin sangat bersemangat untuk teruskan menu sihat ni, kalau boleh sampai bila-bila pun makan menu yang sihat. Tak mau dah makan macam dulu tu lagi. Walaupun sedap di tekak, lama-lama badan kita yang dah tua ni tak boleh nak handle makanan macam tu dan penyakit pun datang berpusu-pusu. Pastikan minum air ni sebelum sarapan ye! Cuba amalkan selama 2 minggu dan anda pasti akan rasa perbezaan pada badan anda. Badan akan rasa lebih bertenaga dan segar. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Sekarang ni berani la nak cuba sebab sudah ada pokok kacang bendi sendiri. Banyak juga Lin tanam kat kebun kecil Lin di rumah. Jadi lebih organik, tiada racun serangga jadi lebih bersih la kannnn. Tak syioklah nak rendam kacang bendi yang ada racun serangga. Nak makan mentah pun tak berani kalau ada racun serangga. Buah lemon yang Lin campurkan dalam air kacang bendi tu pun datang dari buah lemon yang Lin petik dari pokok lemon yang Lin tanam di kebun sendiri. Jadi Lin boleh makan buah lemon tu sekali dengan kulitnya. Kacang bendi tu pun Lin akan makan juga, jadi tak ada pembaziran lepas minum air kacang bendi ni. Semuanya Lin akan minum dan makan secara mentah. Kacang bendi ni memang boleh makan mentah pun, even bunganya boleh dimakan serta daunnya....tapi Lin sendiri tak pernah mencuba. Kalau nak masak pun boleh tapi lebih baik makan mentah la katanya. Belum terpanggil untuk makan bunga dan daunnya. Tiba-tiba ja dia tumbuh kat tempat Lin tanam sisa dapur. Mula-mula tu tak pasti tu pokok apa tapi sebab nampak macam cantik ja...macam sihat elok ja, so Lin korek dan pindahkan ke pasu. Lin agak ja pokok ni pokok timun sebab bentuk daunnya macam pokok timun so Lin cepat-cepat Google, check betul ke tidak pokok ni pokok timun. Rupa-rupanya memang betul lah!! Tak sangka ya! Terus terfikir masa mana Lin beli timun, makan timun sampai boleh tertanam kat tempat kompos tu benihnya. Sebab to be honest, Lin selalunya tak beli timun biasa ni untuk makan. Selalunya beli timun Jepun ja. Itu pun dah lama tak beli. So maybe ermmm sisa timun masa beli nasi ayam kut?? Haha! Kan bila beli nasi ayam, depa letak sepotong timun atau salad kekadang tu. Kalau cantik dan elok timun tu Lin akan makan, kalau tak, maka jadi kompos la timun tu. Puas fikir, tak jumpa jawapan. Ataupun mungkin rezeki dari burung juga? Macam-macam pokok dah burung-burung kat sini bawa kat kebun Lin ni. Alaaaaa takpalah, bukannya takdak tempat lain depa nak bertenggek.....ada lagi dua besi tu depa boleh duduk bertenggek....tak jadi masalah. Salah satu sebab kenapa Lin tak berani nak cuba adalah kerana ada diletakkan halia dalam air ni. Lin rasa agak risau kerana halia kan rasanya sedikit pedas. Bila buat macam tu, kulitnya nanti kita boleh makan tanpa rasa pahit yang keterlaluan. Jadi Lin boleh makan sekali dengan kulitnya sekali. Sedap rasa kulit lemon yang disejukbekukan ni. Tips ni Lin dapat dari YouTube. Buah lemon pun boleh tahan lebih lama, sampai 6 bulan pun masih ok. Oleh kerana Lin sejukbekukan buah lemon tu maka tak bolehlah nak perah jusnya macam biasa sebab dah keras buahnya. Maka Lin akan potong kecil-kecil dan masukkannya dalam air serai halia tu nanti. Lin tak masakannya bersama serai dan halia tu sebab takut nanti habis khasiatnya.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Lin rebus air serai halia tu pun sekejap saja bersama dengan daun pandan. Rebus lebih kurang 8-10 minit sudah mencukupi dan boleh tuang dalam gelas. Bila air rebusan tu ada mengeluarkan bau serai yang kuat, dah boleh tutup api. Warna daun pandan pun bertukar ke hijau lumut, itu juga salah satu indikasi untuk kita tahu air rebusan dah siap. Daun pandan tu penting, mesti rebus sekali baru sedap air ni. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Dalam gelas/mug, Lin hanya letakkan brown sugar. Lin tak berani nak letak gula merah seperti mana yang Sugu Pavithra tunjukkan dalam video sebab dia letak agak banyak gula ya dalam air serai halianya. Air perahan lemon pun banyak dia letak. Lin letak brown sugar ja takut nanti kencing manis pula sebab ada keturunan kencing manis dalam keluarga so kena berjaga-jaga ya. Haha! Anyways, I love the taste of this drink and how it made me feel inside. Best sangat-sangat wei!! Barulah Lin faham kenapa orang lebih suka kombinasi ni berbanding kombinasi serai dan pandan saja. Sejak dah cuba minuman ni, selalu jugalah Lin buat air ni setiap minggu. Ya betul...sejak dua menjak ni Lin obsessed teruk menanam sayur. To be exact, sejak 1 Mei tahun ni la hingga sekarang. Masa bulan Ramadhan plak tu start obsessed teruk. Obses semacam kali ni. Bila Ramadhan datang, ada saja perangai pelik aku timbul. Mimpi apa ntah! Lin memang suka berkebun sejak kecil lagi. Cuma masa Covid 19 ni bila ramai pakat-pakat dok tanam sayur la, tanam indoor plant la, jadi Lin pun ada timbul minat nak buat juga. Bukan la kata sebelum ni tak tanam apa langsung. Memang dok tanam macam-macam dah kat rumah kami ni, cuma when it comes to tanam sayur tu memang dah lama tak buat. Dulu memang pernah tanam kacang bendi, kacang botol, cili besar....pastu, died natural death! Minat tu hilang. Sekarang dia datang kembali. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">One thing about me, when I am into something, I go all out...well, setakat termampu badan ni lah kan. Dah masuk 4 series ni kena beringat juga, tak boleh nak pecut macam masa umur 20an dulu. Masa muda dulu lain la kan, kalau berkebun all day pun takdak hal lah! Tapi sekarang kalau buat macam tu memang cari nahas la! Haha! Dah la dah lama tak bersenam, so kena sentiasa beringat dan kenal badan sendiri. Kena tahu bila nak berhenti or else boleh tergolek pengsan dalam kebun tu sorang-sorang! Hahaha! </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Salah satu lagi sebab kenapa minat berkebun tu datang mungkin sebab masa virus Covid 19 ni ada masa Lin rasa susah nak cari kangkung untuk Ikan kaloi Lin, si Bulat tu yang memang suka sangat makan kangkung. Tapi menyampah betoi la nak cari kangkung kat supermarket....asyik-asyik dok jual kangkung yang dah nak separuh mati, layu. Sebelum ni senang nak dapat sayur kangkung yang segar kat pasar tani tapi time virus Covid 19 ni memang leceh. Dah la tak boleh nak keluar selalu. To be honest, Lin keluar rumah seminggu sekali ja. Memang makin lama makin malas keluar. So I thought....heyyyy....why not tanam je kan sayur kangkung ni. Itu sayur yang penting pada masa tu. So decided untuk mulakan tanam kangkung dulu. Masa tu rasa macam segala sayur Lin boleh tanam....punya semangat tinggi tak tau nak habaq! Haha! So tanam banyak juga la...lepas tu baru cuba tanam bendi. Masa tu di Alor Setar, working from home ni memang orang Alor Setar tak berapa familiar sangat. Rasa macam nak beli segala benda untuk simpan beberapa bulan. Tapi tak dapat pun buat macam tu pada 17 Mac tu. Alhamdulillah la beberapa minggu sebelum hari tu, Lin dah memang dok agak yang perkara seperti ni akan berlaku, jadi Lin perlahan-lahan, sedikit demi sedikit stock up barang juga kat rumah. Tapi takdelah panic buying. Just beli barang-barang yang betul-betul perlu saja. Cuba juga settlekan segala masalah sebelum PKP. Malangnya ada juga yang tak sempat nak settle sebelum 18 hb tu.....so agak risau jugalah masa mula. Alhamdulillah berjaya juga settlekan dalam tempoh PKP tu dengan jayanya.</div></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Tak sangka masa minggu pertama PKP tu Lin kena tahan dengan polis masa pergi cari makanan di Alor Mengkudu. Mak aiii jauhnya Lin cari makan! Rumah di Taman Lumba Kuda....agak jauhlah dari Alor Mengkudu tu. Rasa pelik sebab sekarang agak susah nak beli makanan luar. Rasa takut pun ada nak beli makanan luar ni. Kiranya rasa lebih selamat kut masak sendiri...dah tak percaya sangat kat orang sejak ada Covid-19 Di Malaysia ni. </div></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Weekly maid pun tak dapat datang dah ke rumah untuk mencuci. Jadinya segala benda kat rumah ni Lin kena buatlah jawabnya. Tapi masak memasak tu my Mom pun ada tolong sekali so kira alhamdulillah la. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Paling menyampah time Covid 19 ni adalah bila nak membeli barang-barang keperluan di supermarket. Tiap kali nak keluar je kena pakai mask la, gloves la....and kena sanitize tangan semua. Tak dinafikan agak nervous gila tiap kali nak keluar tu. Kena sentiasa beringat. Sentiasa berjaga-jaga. Tak pernah seumur hidup kena dugaan macam ni so it's a lot jugalah nak hadam semua ni. Lepas tu, bila balik rumah pula....kena basuh segala benda kita beli tu. Ya Allah, yang ni yang paling azab! Kalau sikit jer barang yang dibeli takpelah juga...masalahnya tiap kali beli, sure banyak sebab maklumlah kan tak nak keluar selalu, so beli banyak makanya nak membasuh pun banyaklah. Kalau masih muda dan takde masalah kesihatan sekarang ni, Lin memang takde hal nak buat semua tu. Tapi now I realise how hard it is for old folks to handle all this. Sebab Lin memang tak terdaya rasanya nak buat semua ni. Every time kena keluar shopping, balik jer rumah sure pengsan lepas membasuh dan menyimpan barang. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Tiap-tiap hari dok dengar berita kat TV pasal Covid 19 ni, Lin rasa kita semua kena hadap benda ni lagi setahun dua baru nak selesai. It's not going to go away that fast. Tambahan pula ada sesetengah negara yang kurang peduli pasal nak tangani masalah virus ni. Jadi makin lama la masalah nak selesai dan entah berapa juta orang akan mati. Kesian tengok kat USA tu, ramai betul yang mati. Semua ni sebab tak ambil serious. Bila kerajaan dan rakyat tak ambil serious, maka ramai yang akan terkorban.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ramai juga yang mencuba buat topeng muka atau face mask sendiri. Banyak gila video tutorials kat YouTube pasal diy face mask ni. Ye la...satu dunia nak guna face mask ni kan.... kena belajar buat sendiri juga sebab mahal la nak beli surgical mask tu, lagipun surgical mask tu patut kita bagi kat frontliners....they need it more than we do. Gatal tangan nak mampus nak cuba buat maklumlah dah repair sewing machine tu maka bolehlah jahit face mask sendiri. Teruja sangat nak buat, last2 buat satu jer. Bukan tak nak buat banyak cuma masa tak mengizinkan. Patutlah nak upload video kat YouTube pun berjam-jam lamanya. Lin ni bukannya jenis internet savvy sangat. Kalau tanya bab-bab kelajuan internet ni boleh ternganga jugalah kekadang. So bila nak pasang UNIFI, memang tergejut sebab terlampau banyak beza kelajuannya, 30 Mbps berbanding dengan 2 Mbps Streamyx.!!!</div>

Otak Lin terganggu sejak semalam....tak dapat nak lupa peristiwa bila berjumpa kawan baik Mak Lin di kediamannya. Kami jarang-jarang jumpa tapi setiap kali jumpa pasti Lin akan menitiskan air mata dan terganggu jiwa beberapa hari. Tapi perjumpaan semalam paling terkesan di jiwa sebab setelah bertahun-tahun Lin kenal Aunty ni Lin rasa Lin tak betul-betul kenal dia sebenarnya sehinggalah semalam bila dia cerita serba sedikit kisahnya kepada kami. Mak saya sendiri yang berkawan baik dengannya sejak kecil pun tak betul-betul kenal dia macam mana. Pandai betul orang sembunyikan hal peribadi walaupun pedih di hati penuh berisi.</div>

Tujuan asal jumpa dengan Aunty ni semalam adalah kerana nak hulurkan sumbangan dari kami dan juga dari bekas rakan-rakan sekolah yang lain untuk menampung kos perubatan Aunty dan juga suaminya yang sudah bertahun- tahun uzur. Duit pencen saja tak cukup untuk menampung perbelanjaan setiap bulan. Tambahan pula kalau selalu masuk hospital. </div>

Buat pertama kalinya Aunty ni luahkan perasaannya pada kami, seolah-olah tak dapat menahan perasaannya lagi. Tak dapat dibendung lagi rasanya. Lin pun tergejut. Barulah tahu betapa susahnya hidup dia sejak kecil lagi. Kalau Lin rasa Lin hidup susah, susah lagi orang lain. Rasa insaf bila dengar ceritanya. Lin janji Lin takkan mengadu lagi hal kesusahan hidup Lin kerana apa yang Aunty ni cerita habis tepis cerita Lin yang Lin rasa tak susah mana pun sebenarnya. </div>

Banyak cerita dia berkenaan hidup dalam keluarga yang menindas sesama sendiri. Yang senang perkudakan yang susah....ambil hak yang susah....walaupun apa yang dibuat tu salah dan berdosa dalam ajaran agama Islam tapi yang hidup senang ni tak pedulikan semua tu. Yang penting bagi mereka, mereka nak kaya dan bertambah kaya walaupun dengan duit haram.</div>

Kita yang dok dengar cerita ni memang boleh relate dengan apa yang diceritakan sebab kami pun pernah lalui benda yang lebih kurang sama. Tapi bagi Lin apa yang Aunty ni lalui, lagi trauma.</div>

Tentang hal memberi sumbangan pun Lin rasa terkilan dengan kawan-kawan Aunty ni yang banyak soal bila diminta beri sedikit sumbangan. Hari ni hari dia....hari kita entah bila kita tak tahu. Apalah sangat nak berkira sampai soal macam-macam untuk mengelak dari beri sumbangan. Rasanya lebih baik diam dari soal yang bukan-bukan. </div>

Aunty ni baik orangnya dan selalu tolong orang. Tak sangka selama ni hidup dia begitu susah. Dia tak cerita kat orang atau pada kawan-kawan. Selalu senyum saja bila berjumpa. Happy go lucky gitu. Pada 15hb Disember ni dia kena buat pembedahan mata sebab matanya ada masalah di bahagian retina. Agak risiko tinggi sebab kemungkinan boleh jadi buta. Ya Allah....kalau Lin la, rasa takut yang amat nak buat pembedahan ni. Risau yang amat sangat. Macam manalah dia nak jaga suaminya kalau matanya buta nanti....Allahuakbar....</div>

Bahagianya rasa dijiwa....like, seriously guys, bila Lin pergi Tesco dan terlihat Australian celery dijual dekat bahagian rak sayur, terus Lin rasa macam nak menjerit kegumbiraan!! Akhirnya!! Yes!! Thank you Tesco!! Thank you!! You listened to my request. Sebab Lin pernah tag Tesco di Instagram dulu tentang Australian celery ni. Memang itulah yang Lin harap-harapkan sangat sejak tahun lepas lagi sebab Lin tak suka buat jus guna celery dari China. Celery dari China ni bau herbanya tu kuat gila...dan rasa dia tersangatlah tak sedap berbanding celery dari Australia. Tapi pada mula-mula Lin buat jus celery ni, Lin terpaksa guna celery China sebab susah nak cari yang dari Australia ni, dah tu mahal teramat! Tergejut juga masa permulaannya tu.</div>

Setelah beberapa bulan pening kepala cari stok celery ni di merata tempat, maka terjumpalah akhirnya a good stock di market Koboi, Alor Setar ni. But the problem doesn't end there guys....oh no no....still ada masalah ok! Entah kenapa ya, setiap kali beli celery Australia ni, especially di market ataupun di pasar tani, peniaga-peniaga ni suka sangat nak bagi komen ataupun tanya soalan yang Lin dah nak muntah dengar. Kenapa asal nak beli celery Australia ja kena tembakan soalan-soalan yang menjengkelkan. Kalau beli sayur lain, takdak plak depa nak soal lebih-lebih! Why la whyyyyyyy!!! Sampai satu tahap, Lin jadi phobia and sometimes rasa allergic nak beli disebabkan soalan-soalan ni la!</div>

Anyways, itu semua dulu ok....dulu....la ni Lin tak payah dah nak layan soalan-soalan tu semua, all thanks to Tesco!! Cuma sekali je ada cashier yang hairan tengok Lin beli banyak celery tu. Dia takut Lin tersalah pilih celery...sebab Australian celery kan mahal, so dia takut Lin tersilap. Lin cakaplah kat dia, takpa dik, akak sedar apa yang akak pilih ni, jangan risau ya dik hahahahaha! Panik cashier tu :D. Beza banyak harga celery dari China Dan Australia ni. Entah bila harga Australian celery ni nak murah tak tau la.</div>

Satu lagi yang best pasal beli celery kat Tesco ni ialah brand company celery ni pun lain dari yang jenis yang Lin dok beli kat market tu. Dannnnnnn rasa dia pun jauh lebih sedap! Ada rasa manis-manis sikit celery jenis ni. Bau herba dia pun tak kuat. Jadi bila dijuskan, sudah tentu lebih sedap! Yay!<br />

Another plus point adalah, bila beli kat Tesco sudah tentu boleh borong banyak sebab boleh guna trolly depa tu! Takdak lagi rasa sakit tangan nak bawa celery dari market ke kereta macam dulu. Rasanya memang Tuhan nak tolong Lin la.....itu yang Lin dok minta....itulah yang Lin dapat akhirnya.... Alhamdulillah! Syukur sangat dapat juga teruskan semula minum jus celery ni.<br />

Rugi kalau tak dapat nak sambung minum sebab kebaikannya terlalu banyak. Dulu Lin kalau jumpa kawan-kawan atau sesiapa pun, walaupun tak kenal rapat, Lin akan nasihatkan depa untuk cuba minum jus celery ni tapi sekarang tak lagi. Dah malas nak nasihatkan orang sebab kebanyakan orang malas nak buat benda ni untuk jangkamasa yang panjang. Depa hanya nak quick solutions. Kalau boleh, minum jus hari ni, pastu esok lusa hilang semua masalah kesihatan. Nak cepat dan mudah. Malas juga nak membaca atau buat research tentang kesihatan. Semua nak kita cerita kat depa...nak kita feed. So I give up. Kita tak boleh paksa orang ikut cara kita walaupun terbukti cara kita tu bagus atau betul. Kan? Kan? :D</div>

Nak gelak pun ada, teruja pun ada, semua perasaan ada, gara-gara cuba kemudahan yang terdapat di The Jerai Hotel, Alor Setar hari ni. Bukan saya yang cuba ya, tapi Mak saya dan kawan-kawan dia yang mencubanya. Excited sangat depa pagi ni! Haha! First time la katakan. Tak pernah naik lift macam tu sebelum ni. Mak saya ni memang ada masalah berjalan, especially kalau nak kena naik tangga memang dia rasa beban yang amat sangat. Jadi bila dapat tahu yang kat hotel tu ada kemudahan ni apa lagi, dia tak teragak-agak nak cubalah!</div>

Pergi kat hotel tu hari ni sebab nak jumpa kawan lama dia. Kawan lama sejak sekolah rendah lagi dan kami kenal rapat dengan keluarga dia juga. Birthday dia pun baru a few days ago, so adalah celebrate sikit. Actually yang sakit lutut tu Mak saya jer yang paling kronik masalahnya, kena guna tongkat tapi bila Mak saya nak cuba naik lift tu, kawan-kawan yang lain pun nak join sekali. Depa ni selalu macam ni tau.....semua kena ikut "leader"....Mak saya la leader tu. Apa ja leader buat, barulah depa rasa berani nak buat, kalau tak, jangan harap nak buat sendiri....gitewwwww. Hahahaha! Rasanya dalam mana-mana group mesti ada yang kes sama macam ni kan? kan?? </div>

Saya ni selalu jugalah ikut keluar bersama kawan-kawan Mak saya ni dan dah jadi part of the geng! I'm the youngest in the geng la nampaknya but it's ok, I like it. Seronok bersama orang-orang lama ni sebab topik-topik perbincangan selalunya gempak! Ada saja yang dapat kita belajar dari orang-orang lama ni. Sopan santun, berbudi bahasa pulak tu! Lagi lah I suka! Takdak sapa pun yang cakap kurang ajar atau eksyen tak tentu pasal. Semua happy-happy jer! We had fun today! ;)</div>

Seriously, saya rasa kalau semua hotel ada kemudahan tangga lift untuk OKU ni pasti akan memberikan satu bonus point untuk hotel tu sendiri. Sebab lift tu bukan saja orang OKU boleh guna tapi sesuai untuk wanita mengandung dan warga emas juga. Kiranya kekadang benda macam ni lah yang menjadi sebab kita buat keputusan untuk sewa hotel tu kan? ;)<br />

Please laaaa....takkan laaa tak reti...tolonglahhh! :P Of course ada sebabnya saya blog in English. One of the reasons is because saya nak improve English saya. Kalau selalu menulis dalam bahasa tu, maka semakin lama semakin mahir kita berbahasa Inggeris. Itulah yang saya harapkan. Semakin lancar, semakin banyak vocabulary, semakin confident menggunakannya setiap hari.</div>

Memang boleh jer translate tapi menyusahkan mereka la. Bayangkanlah, dekat Facebook pun mereka ni complain kalau status update saya ditulis dalam bahasa Malaysia, inikan pula kalau blog panjang-panjang, lagilah mereka ni complain. So, nak senang cerita dan untuk mengelakkan masalah, maka saya tulislah dalam bahasa Inggeris. Dan saya tak tak menyesal pun buat macam tu kerana ianya memudahkan followers saya membaca content saya di blog. If they are happy, I'm happy too! I've started to drink green tea again lately because I wanted to decrease the amount of my daily coffee intake. So far I am loving the taste and how it makes me feel afterwards. There's something about the after effects of green tea that helps me control my urges of taking sweet drinks.</div>

It's so different compared to drinking coffee. If I were to drink a cup of coffee, I would surely want to drink it again later in the day. Everyday telling myself that I should eat healthy but I end up eating something that might potentially kill me in the end anyways. I think the longest I've been SO FREAKING disciplined about something was when I was doing that celery juice detox. I was at it for about 8-9 months straight. I was so positively sure I was able to do it for 3 years...LOL! So much for the positive thought. I don't know what happened. I woke up one day and I find myself not being able to do it anymore. I just lost it. I didn't get the thrill looking at celery. WEIRD! I see people doing it everyday on Instagram and getting great results and yet I still couldn't bring myself to continue. I went to the market to buy celery but I end up cooking it instead. Gosh....what on earth happened to me. I wonder if other's are experiencing the same thing.</div>

Part of it I think is also because of the effect of the detox from celery juice that demotivated me. The eczema flared up like crazy at times. I just felt awful. It was a strange experience because some part of me had a positive effect and some other part just went to crazy and was in pain all the time. It was driving me crazy as well.</div>

I know I should take care of my health, but the fact is that, it's just a lot of work. I just don't have the time, nor the energy for it. I guess that's one of the reasons why I stopped juicing the celery. It was so exhausting for me to manage it everyday. Making smoothies was a lot easier. So at least I was still making smoothies. </div>

Talk about smoothies. I kept it simple nowadays. Since cucumber is also an alternative they say to detox, similar to celery, so I made sure that cucumber is always available at home. Same goes with apples. I found out that I can't eat anymore fruits that are sour. Seems that it will make the eczema worse than before. So I had to stop taking a variety of fruits because of that. Making smoothies will be simpler and cheaper for sure, LOL! I used to make smoothies with blueberries and pitaya....now I don't consume them anymore. No matter how delicious they are, no more will they be available at home. The price is pretty high as well. It's crazy! How on earth are we supposed to be eating all the super detox food when the price is too high. Go figure.<br />

Thinking back on what I've done over the past few months, I realised what I was doing wrong. I thought I could get away with it but that was the reason for the failure. Although I drank celery juice everyday back then, I wasn't 100% following the rules. For instance in my case, there are a lot of food or drinks that I should avoid taking. But since I have no self control, I took them anyways thinking that it won't be so bad since I'm taking celery juice everyday. </div>

Alhamdulillah, I feel so blessed to be granted the opportunity to fast again this year. I wanted to write about my experience fasting so that I can document what I did this year that makes fasting for me this time around different from the past. How was it different from last year's Ramadhan? Well, for starters, this time around, I'm included celery juice and fruit smoothie as part of my daily menu. I have been drinking celery juice since last December of 2018 till now. There are some days that I would go without it but only because I couldn't get new stock from the market. During that time I would replace celery juice with cucumber juice or cucumber smoothie because cucumber has similar effects on the body that we get from celery juice. It does have good source of minerals in it, very hydrating which is good for the body when fasting and it is cooling too.</div>

What I noticed so far when fasting these past few days is that I don't feel sick like I used to years ago during the first week of fasting. I'm sure many of us face the same experience. The feeling is so remarkably wonderful now. I don't get headaches or feel very feverish either. I can actually "function", feel calm and have more patience. So this is really great for me. Even my Mom says she feels different this time around. She doesn't take the fruit smoothie though because she does not like the cold smoothie that I make...she does not like to take cold drinks. Plus, she is not that fond of taking fruits that are blended together. She prefers fruit juices or take them whole instead. </div>

I would have the fruit smoothie for iftar (breaking of fast) with some dates and plain water. It's enough to keep me full till after Isya'. After Isya' I would eat something more filling. Usually I would break the fast with a glass of plain warm water first, then have some dates and continue with the fruit smoothie. By then my fruit smoothie won't be too cold for me to drink. The reason why it is cold is because some of the fruits are frozen. Sometimes in order to keep the fruits from rotting fast, it's best to keep them in the freezer. So I clean them and then cut them up into small pieces and freeze them. That way, they last longer. I do get headaches if I drink cold drinks too fast or when my body is feeling hot. I do feel hot when fasting because I am not drinking any water during fasting. So to take a VERY cold drink upon breaking the fast is actually not a good idea. Warm drinks and food are best. It won't shock the body like cold drinks and food would. That's why I took plain warm water with the dates first before taking the cold fruit smoothie.</div>

I really enjoy taking them for iftar because it is sunnah to break the fast with dates or fruits. And I don't like to mix fruits with other food at any one time. After taking the fruit smoothie, it is best to wait for 30 minutes before taking any other meal. I feel that Iftar is the best time to eat fruits. At other times, I just don't see myself taking fruits because we can only eat or drink twice a day in Ramadhan, and for sahur, I can only see myself taking heavy meals like rice, veggies or meat. I also take celery juice half and hour before I take my meal during sahur, because it is good to take celery juice on empty stomach in the morning and not at night. I had to wake up very early in the morning around 3.30 am just to juice the celery. It was not easy to be discipline but for health sake, I did it. It was possible. I made sure I washed the celery the day before, cut them up into small pieces, all ready to be juiced in the morning. </div>

Yes, it is so important to prepare and plan the meals in Ramadhan because I don't want to get sick. If I do get sick, I might miss my opportunity to fast and that would be so sad. I don't want to miss fasting unnecessarily. I did have a bad experience last year and I don't want it to happen again this time around so I'm very careful now with what I eat in Ramadhan.<br />

Now that Ramadhan is over, I'm so happy that I came out of it feeling good. I'm so glad I made the decision to change my diet last year. Although I did cheat eating food and sugary drinks that I'm not supposed to take sometimes, at least I never stopped taking the celery juice and the fruit smoothie. Those two things helped me reduce a lot of my cravings, and even if I did cheat, I didn't take a lot of it like before. So there is a huge difference.<br />

I remembered over the years, I have been on and off with eating healthy. I could never stay on a healthy diet for a long period of time. Usually it would last for 2 or 3 months...then I would cheat for a few more months, and I would be back on that diet again for another few months. It's like a vicious cycle. It was really hard to maintain the diet. The difference this time is the celery juice. I definitely feel that the celery juice helped me maintain the healthy diet. Even when I was taking the jamu, I couldn't stay on the healthy diet for long.<br />

I really hope to continue with the celery juice and fruit smoothie for as long as I possibly can. All I hope for is a healthy body and mind. When I have health, I have everything and I can do anything. In shaa Allah. I'm praying for the best! :)</div>

A celery juice challenge! Wow, never in a million years would I ever even dream of drinking pure celery juice non stop for 30 days. I did this because I wanted to detox my liver. A lot of health issues are related to the liver. So if the liver is not in good shape, our health will be affected too. I first learned about celery juice from <b><a href="https://www.instagram.com/_taratom_/?hl=en">Tara Tom's Instagram</a></b> post about a year ago. I was really impressed with how she managed to heal herself from eczema. Her eczema was worse than mine. But she successfully healed herself with celery juice and by following the protocols from the Medical Medium.<br />

A few years back when I first got myself a cold press juicer/slow juicer, I did try juicing celery but at that time I've never heard of mono juicing or about the wonderful benefits of juicing celery solo. So back then, I would juice celery with green apples and other fruits to make it taste good. I was a juicing beginner at the time, so it was important for me to make juices that taste good. Otherwise, I may not be able to do juicing everyday. Plus my Mom wanted every juice that I made to taste good otherwise she won't drink any at all. She couldn't except it if the juice was not sweet.</div>

I remember how time consuming and also tiring it was to juice the celery with fruits. All the cleaning and washing the fruits and vegetables for two people was so exhausting. Not to mention cleaning the juicer after that! And that was one of the reasons why I quit juicing after a few months back then. The
other reason was because it was expensive to juice fruits. By right it shouldn’t be a problem to juice because, I was supposed
to be juicing more of the vegetables instead of the fruits. The purpose of adding the fruits was just to
make the vegetable juice taste better. Unfortunately for me, since my Mom
wanted to drink it too, she insists on juicing more of the fruits instead of the vegetables.
So to cut the story short, I ended up making a lot of fruit juices instead of healthy vegetable juices that can help us heal from our ailments. Finally I got fed up and stopped. Because we were not getting healthier by juicing that way. So I just had to put an end to it. It's not easy to convince my Mom to eat healthy back then. It still is not till now. It's always a challenge </div>

Having said that, I'm so glad now my Mom is willing to make small steps in eating healthy. We are getting there. I was surprised when she was willing to drink the pure celery juice. I didn't see that coming. Thinking back on how she reacted years ago to the taste of celery, I never thought that she would be able to drink a whole mug of it. Especially in the morning because, in this challenge, we have to drink 500ml of celery juice early in the morning on empty stomach. The both of us are the type who always have hot cup of coffee early in the morning. Now all that has changed! It's all in the past now. It's amazing! I couldn't believe that we both could do it, but we did it!</div>

I started this 30 days celery juice challenge first. My Mom started it after I was doing it for 10 days. I guess she was convinced about celery juice after she saw the amazing results I have been getting by drinking the celery juice. I also let her try it first, have a sample of it to see if she could tolerate the taste. After she said she could, she started taking it with me the next day. I'm so happy I have a celery juice partner now, hahaha! It's much more fun doing it with someone, rather than being on this health journey alone. Furthermore, I want her to get the same benefits that I've been getting too. </div>

<b>1. No more migraines or splitting headache.</b></div>

That was the most obvious. This is because before I started taking celery juice, I have been getting a lot of headaches the past few months and the headaches got really bad in December 2018, so much so that I was taking Panadol almost every other day to stop the pain. Now that was unacceptable! I've never had to do such a thing all my life and when suddenly I was doing it often, I knew something was wrong somewhere. The headaches disappeared after 1 or 2 days of drinking celery juice! Amazing!</div>

<b>2. No more bloated tummy.</b></div>

OK! I have to say that I have had this problem for as long as I can remember. I thought that if I stopped taking wheat based food, the bloating would go away but it didn't! It usually works but this time it didn't. Imagine, I stopped taking it for more than 2 months and I was still bloated! I knew there and then that my liver was in a bad shape because it was never that bad before. Usually if I went gluten free, the problem would solve by itself. But when it didn't, I was really worried. So exactly after 2 weeks of drinking celery juice, I saw some changes on my tummy. My waist has reduced a lot in size. I didn't look like I was 4 months pregnant anymore. I have to say I was really impressed! Although it's not totally flat yet, at least I'm getting there! LOL!</div>

<b>3. No more digestive issues.</b><br />
Did you know that celery juice restores hydrochloric acid levels in the stomach for better long-term digestion. So ever since I've been taking celery juice, I have no digestive issues anymore. No problem passing stools at all. No constipation. But that doesn't mean that I don't take a lot of fiber in my diet. I do every day. I love eating fresh fruits and raw vegetables! ;)<br />

<b>4. No more sweet cravings.</b><br />
Seriously I am loving this one the most! I honestly do not have the never ending urge to eat ice cream or chocolates anymore. Nor do I eat any sweet pastries like before. I can also ignore sweet sugar laden drinks. Amazing isn't it??<br />

<b>5. More energy</b><br />
I do notice the energy levels going up when I drink celery juice on empty stomach each morning. BUT, if I take it in the evening or before lunch time, the result is not the same. So I guess there is a reason for Anthony Williams to encourage us to take it in the morning. Taking it in the morning is definitely the best time for better results.<br />

<b>6. More alert/ Think clearer</b><br />
This is so true. I am more alert now, although I still have some memory problem. Some say it has to do with a person's blood type :/.<br />

<b>7. No more huge acnes on my scalp</b><br />
I remember how horrible I felt each day because of those huge acnes on my scalp. They were big and painful. I would pick on them every day because it was bothering me so much. Combing the hair with huge acnes on my head was hell. All that is in the past now after I started taking celery juice every day. All gone! Amazing!<br />

Before I started taking celery juice, I had already stopped taking wheat based food since October 2018. I did that because my eczema was extremely bad. I couldn't tolerate it anymore. Both my feet were swollen and the eczema had spread to the bottom of my feet. I had problems walking. Walking in pain most of the time. Although I knew that wheat was bad for me, I still sometimes cheat and that would get me into trouble. I was also still taking chicken at the time I did this 30 days celery juice challenge but in March I completely stopped. I realised that I also have to follow the Eat Right for your Blood Type diet in order to completely heal myself from all my illnesses. I noticed that if I do follow the protocol, my eczema heals faster. So whether I liked it or not, I have to follow.<br />
<br />
Since early March, I am not taking any wheat based foods for good, no more cheating. I also don't cook with oil anymore. Fruits and raw vegetables are mainly what I eat each day. 80 % raw, 20 % cooked meals. I'm like 90% vegetarian now. Not 100% because sometimes I would take fish.<br />
<br />
So it's been about 3 months now taking celery juice. There were times in January when I had to stop taking the juice for about a week. At first I thought it was because of the celery that I had flare ups of the eczema. It was getting worse and worse. So I stopped taking the juice for a week. But now I realised it was not the celery's fault. It was because I cheated with my diet and didn't follow the blood type protocol. Then came the issue of getting fresh celery everyday. I really had a hard time getting fresh celery everyday from the supermarket. They were from China and not that fresh. But now all that problem has been solved since I found a place where they sell fresh celery from Australia. They are a little bit expensive but worth every cent.<br />
<br />
There are a lot of people who tried taking celery juice and stopped taking it after 30 days. Mostly because of eczema flare ups. It's a pity that it happened to them. It happened to me too but luckily for me I knew how to stop it. I knew that just taking the juice but not changing my diet will not help me heal. It's more than that. I have to do more. Another thing that one has to remember is that, healing naturally takes time. It's very slow. But the results are amazing and for that, I'm willing to do it.<br />

At the moment I'm only taking 500ml of celery juice every day. Sometimes I take just a little more than that if there's extra celery available. It's always a sad thing to see my blog neglected like this. Things happen and I can't help it that I don't have the time to blog as often as I want to. God knows how many times I want to write but things get in the way. I just had to blog about Stormy. Just 2 days left before 2018 draws it's curtain and I need to write this before it's too late. I might add some more facts later on when I have the time, but for now, I'll write about how Stormy came into my life.</div>

For those who follow me on my Instagram, they would already know about Stormy. Every other day I would do an update about her. She came into my life last October. To be exact, I found her on the 18th of October 2018 in my own garden. She was screaming away like crazy. Sounding so desperate for help. I knew something was not right. I heard that scream the night before around 9.00pm. At that time I thought the sound came from the roof of our house. Never did I imagine that the little kitten was actually in my garden that night! There was a storm that night. Very heavy rain. The screaming became louder and louder. I couldn't help but wonder why the kitten was screaming so helplessly. If there was a mother....why didn't the mother comfort her. The sound was so disturbing. When it was time for me to sleep, I could still hear the screaming on and off. I suppose, she must have been tired of screaming and took a rest at times.</div>

I couldn't sleep very well that night. I kept thinking of Manja. The stray cat that died in 2016 at our house. She died trying to give birth. It was a nightmare for me to see her die that way. I'm still traumatized about it till today. Whenever I see a cat, I'll be reminded of Manja. So when I heard that little kitten screaming, I kept thinking of Manja's babies that died with her. I cried myself to sleep that night.</div>

The next day, the maid to our house. So we were busy that day. There was rain throughout the day. Off and on, I would hear the screaming. It was just so weird to hear a kitten STILL screaming since the night before. In my mind...I kept thinking, what on earth is the mother cat doing??? Where the hell are they anyway? Are they at my house of someone else's house?? WHERE!!! The screaming is killing me!</div>

Finally....late in the afternoon, around 6.00pm....I went outside the house to see Bulat, my Kaloi. I wanted to feed her. At that time, I heard the screaming again....but it was not as loud as I heard before. Every time the kitten screamed, I tried to locate it. I followed my instincts....it lead me to the back of the house. I couldn't see anything. I almost gave up and was about to go back into the house when I heard the scream again and saw something small moving on the ground near the wall at the back of our house. Under the metal scraps and old wood, I saw this little new born kitten, with it's umbilical cord still on her. Luckily she moved. If she hadn't done that, I wouldn't have noticed her from far.</div>

Immediately I ran inside the house to get some cloth to wrap the kitten with. The kitten was soaking wet!! My heart broke into pieces seeing her like that. I didn't stop to think if I did the right thing taking her in. If the her mother wanted to get her, she would have done so earlier. I mean, she had the whole entire day to do that, but she didn't get her little kitty. Until today I wondered why was Stormy left there all alone. How many siblings does she have? Who are her real mother and father?? </div>

To cut the story short, I had a hard time taking care of her. Because at that time, I was not well. At the time, I had a very serious eczema issue on my feet. It was just so bad, so much so that I had a hard time walking. I hadn't been taking good care of myself for almost a year. Not only did I not avoid foods that harm my body, I also ate a lot of it....A LOT!!! And because of that, my body just couldn't take it anymore. I had to detoxify my body immediately! It wasn't easy because once I start eating those foods that harm me, I just couldn't stop! October was just the hardest time I had in 2018. </div>

Ok, back to Stormy. Obviously I named her Stormy because I figured she was born during the storm. I assumed she was born on the 17th because I heard her scream the night before. Just so you know, I have no experience at all at taking care of new born kittens. I had to Google to educate myself about how to take care of her. I learned a lot from a YouTuber called the (KittenLady). Her videos are great! So easy to understand. Because of her videos, I was able to be a mother to Stormy. I may not be a great Mom, but I sure hell tried my best! LOL!</div>

Soursop! I love Soursop! Who doesn't right?? The fruit is delicious! So they say. Honestly to date, I've only experienced eating the frozen flesh of the fruit which I bought a few years ago from a shop somewhere in Alor Setar, Soursop fruit in powdered form which was said to be good for curing cancer and also Soursop fruit in the form of juice which can be found in many supermarkets nowadays. All of them are Soursop fruit that have been through some form of process. So I've never had the chance to try the fresh ones before in my life! Haha! Kesian!</div>

All these years, I've been dying to eat the fresh Soursop fruit from our very own tree, because I was informed of it's great health benefits. Besides, growing them would be much cheaper than buying the fruit itself. They are SO EXPENSIVE to buy! I only thought that the only great thing about the tree is the fruit. Because that's what everybody is talking about. The fruit! Little did I know that not only the fruit is great for our health but so are the leaves and bark of the tree! Wow! Who knew!! It was not easy to grow the tree itself as many of the trees that we planted have died. We have bought so many Soursop trees over the years and some were given by our own good neighbours. Now, we have some that are struggling to survive. It's a real challenge to grow them I tell ya! Haha! I heard that they don't like strong wind so much. :D</div>

I was surprised to know that a lot of studies have shown that the Soursop leaves are even better than the fruit itself. They say that it is the most beneficial part of the tree. The people in the Caribbean have been drinking the Soursop leaf tea for ages! It's like a traditional thing for them to consume it. Whenever they feel a little bit under the weather they would drink this tea to help them feel better. No wonder they are so strong! I read a lot of articles and saw a lot of videos of people from the Caribbean saying that the tea is so good for the nerves. So people who worked long hours or who does a lot of physical activity would take this tea after work so that they can sleep well at night and feel better the next morning.</div>

So, since my Soursop trees are still pretty small and not bearing any fruit for us to eat, I could at least use the leaves for making tea. I've heard about how good it is for curing and preventing cancer but I never knew that is was also for other health issues such as <b>Gout, Back pain, Eczema, Rheumatism, Diabetes, it can boost the Immune System, inhibit the growth of bacteria, virus, parasites and tumors, treats inflammation and swollen feet, reducing fever and high blood pressure, aids in digestion and improving appetite, improves stamina, good for treatment of boils and lice on your hair. </b> For me, I'm taking it for my skin and for something else that I rather not mention here, hahahaha :D.</div>

I did a lot of research about the tea before consuming it. I wouldn't want to poison myself with it so it was really important to find out more about it. When I found out about how to make the tea and saw how so many people all over the world are taking it on a daily basis, I realize that it was actually very safe to consume after all. You can use the fresh leaves or air dry them first before making tea with it. It doesn't matter. What I also did find was that whatever tea we drink or whatever food we eat, do not OVERDOSE. That's why I only take one cup or one small mug of the tea everyday. It's better to do it that way rather than get too excited about the health benefits and overdose ourselves and thinking that the more we consume it, the better health we will have. It is so not the case.....so, less is more guys. Believe me, it's better to be safe than sorry.</div>

How I make the tea is actually very similar to how I make the Lemongrass Pandan tea. All there is to do is boil water based on how many cups or mugs of tea that I plan to make/drink. Since I usually make one for me and my Mother, so it's always 2 mugs of water. I would bring it to a boil in a small sauce pan and then dump in the shredded leaves inside the boiling water. Lower the heat and leave it to boil for 5-10 minutes. Take out the leaves from the pan when it's done and pour the tea into the mugs. I usually would add some rock sugar to sweeten the tea a bit. And it's delicious!</div>

I am pretty excited when it comes to talking about how wonderful the Soursop leaves are for the skin. I've experienced this first hand when I had a really big acne on my chin a few days ago. It was so painful!! I haven't had a big one like that in ages. So since they said that the leaves were good for the skin and acne, I decided to give it a try. What I did was, I used the dry mill to grind the leaves to tiny pieces. Then I would add in small amounts of rose water to it, to get the juice out of the leaves. Then, I would apply that on my face or any parts of my body that I felt needed the attention. </div>

What happened after that really shocked me. I applied the extract of the leaves on my skin and left it on overnight, and when I woke up the next day, the acne shrunk and is no longer painful! Amazing!! The day after that, it totally disappeared! WOW! The effect was pretty fast! </div>

Currently in Alor Setar, most of the Tecoma trees are blooming with flowers all over the city. It's that time of the year again when we can see this phenomena happening and it's so beautiful. I just love it when the flowers starts to bloom and brightens up the gloomy city.</div>

I sometimes get distracted when driving the car in the city because of these flowers. My eyes sometimes keep wondering off the road and focusing on those pretty flowers especially when they are in full bloom. I didn't get the chance to take photos of the white Tecoma flower. I only got the chance to get good shots of the pink ones this week.</div>

<span style="text-align: justify;">I'm not exactly sure how I came to know about Lemongrass and Pandan tea. I guess it was probably when I was browsing on YouTube early this month when I saw a tutorial on it made by someone from Thailand. The tea looked really tasty, I just had to give it a try. It's a very special drink it seems that can easily be found in most restaurants in Thailand. People even serve this drink in tropical beauty spas before and after treatment. It is well known for it's healing and therapeutic benefits. You can drink it hot or cold, but I prefer it served hot.</span><br />

<span style="text-align: justify;">I've been browsing a lot before on YouTube for natural detox drink to try. And this is the first time I came across this recipe. I was very much into green smoothies and juices before but I had to stop doing that recently because it has become too expensive to do that on daily basis. </span><span style="text-align: justify;">Thinking of ways to save up money instead of spending these days because produce are getting more and more expensive to buy. The price of food are going up and it rarely goes down. So I guess planting my own herbs, vegetables and fruits are back in trend in our house. Well why not right? We have a big compound and it would be a waste not to plant more things we can consume. Yes, it does mean that I would need to spend more time in the garden to achieve all that but, I'm very selective of what to plant so that I won't have to spend too much time on it daily.</span><br />

Anyways, back to the Lemongrass and Pandan tea. How easy it is to grow Lemongrass and Pandan at home. Especially in Malaysia. Almost every home in Malaysia have these two plants in their garden. My Mom grows lots of them at home. So much so that she can actually sell them if she wanted to. Who knows maybe one day when things gets tough, it might be a good idea. LOL!! :D But for now, we just consume it for ourselves. </div>

It is not that difficult to prepare the tea. All there is to do is clean the lemongrass and pandan leaves. I usually use 4 stalks of lemongrass and about two pandan leaves. I would smash each stalk of lemongrass with a heavy pestle to bruise it so that it will release the aromatic oils from it. </div>

So after that, I would throw the pandan and lemongrass into a boiling water and let them boil for about 5 - 8 minutes. It's easy to know when it's done and ready pour into your cups or mugs, when the smell of the lemongrass and pandan leaves becomes so strong. It fills the air in your kitchen! It's so wonderful! And you could see that the pandan leaves starts to brown and you could see that the water has a tint of light green colour.</div>

I believe the last time I wrote here was in 2015....how a lot of things has changed since then. I never thought that I would leave this blog empty for more than 2 years. I do feel a little upset about that but things happen. Sometimes, I can't control the time in a day to do what I want.</div>

Over 2 years now and a lot has changed. I thought that when I started my healthy diet back in 2015, I was able to stay on that diet forever. Unfortunately it didn't go as planned. I went from a healthy diet to the worse diet ever in my life. I remembered eating a lot of processed foods. A lot of cakes, muffins, pancakes, fast foods etc. I let things go and forget about what's right. I ate things I shouldn't have because at one point in my life I just couldn't go on with the diet anymore. I let myself go. I also didn't exercise that much. I didn't care anymore and it went on for over a year that way. I guess it's because I've been going through a hard time dealing with a lot of health issues for so many years that at one point I just gave up trying to be healthy.</div>

One day I was introduced to a herbal supplement called Jamu Mandara. I was skeptical in the beginning to take them but after being advised on how good it is, I decided to give it a try. When it comes to making green juices, I'd like to keep it simple. When I first started making green juices, the juices I made had 4-5 ingredients in them, with all the different types of vegetables, fruits and herbs . But now, the ingredients are less. Just celery and green apples. That's the most basic ingredients in my green juice.</div>

I LOVE celery. I love them cooked and I even love them raw. Celery are low in calories....there are only about 10 calories in each stalk. This will help a lot for weight watchers. It's also a stress reliever because the minerals in celery such as magnesium and the essential oils soothes the nervous system and helps us sleep better especially if we were to take them in the evenings.</div>

Celery also regulates the alkaline in our body and protects our body from acidity. This is good as we need to keep those two in balance. It reduces inflammation too. So if someone was suffering from asthma, joint pains, lung infections or acne....taking celery will bring much relief.</div>

The high water content in celery will aid in digestion. The insoluble fiber makes it easy for eliminating stools. SO if there is a constipation issue, taking celery is the way to GO! haha! This fact might be a shock to some. Celery contains good salts.....it contains sodium, but not the same as table salt. It's natural, organic and essential for our health. It is also known to combat cancer, lowers the blood pressure and many more.</div>

As for green apples.....hmmm, what are the benefits of taking them? Well, for starters, they have more health benefits compared to the red one! Oh yeah! The green ones are high in fiber and help keep the digestive track clean and healthy. Thus reduces the possibility to get colon cancer.</div>

It gives our stomach the sense of satisfaction after eating them, which means we would feel full and not having the need to eat more. It also does not have any bad cholesterol in it. And since it has a very high fiber content, inevitably these high fibers can help reduce the cholesterol that are already present in our body. It reduces liver problems and prevents gout too. It contains antioxidants thus prevents cancer and DNA damage. These green apples also controls our appetite and gives us a lot of energy too. It contains carbohydrates which are good for athletes or people who are always on the move.</div>

Besides from all the great benefits of the celery and apple, I just LOVE the taste of the two of them when combined. The juice has a sweet and sour taste to it and it's refreshing too. I would juice the whole celery stalk each time and would add about 4 green apples to juice along with it and it always turns out tasting amazing. It's definitely my all time favourite juice to make :).</div>

It's been almost 6 weeks now since I started making smoothies. When I first started making them, I made sure that green leaves were part of the ingredients in the recipe. This is because green leaves have the chlorophyll in them and they are alkaline. It is very good to alkalize our acidic body with green leaves.. I pretty much experimented a lot with the ingredients in the beginning. I didn't know what would taste nice together but I had some things in mind that I would like to have in my green smoothies.</div>

I see a lot of people on the net using either plain water, coconut water, almond milk, or cow's milk as the base of the smoothie. It is important to choose the right kind of liquid for your green smoothies. You have to know what works for you. As for me, I would prefer to just use plain water for my green smoothies. I just can't imagine what my green smoothies would taste like with any type of milk. I don't DARE to try! haha!</div>

BUT! I do however love to use powdered goat's milk in my other smoothie recipe. Especially in my chocolate banana smoothie! It tastes so delicious!! It's like drinking a chocolate milkshake! I'll share how I make it in my next post :).</div>

The reason why I use goat's milk is because I'm allergic to dairy products. So for the base of any of my smoothies, it's either plain water, coconut water or goat's milk for me. It would be nice to try using green tea as the base as well. </div>

As for the greens, I prefer to use Romaine lettuce compared to spinach or any other type of greens. This is because Romaine lettuce is suitable to be taken raw. I learned that spinach and certain other types of greens are best taken when lightly steamed or cooked because they might interfere with the absorption of essential nutrients in our body if taken raw. I see a lot of people on the net using spinach or kale for their green smoothies. I wonder if it will have a bad effect on their body in the long term. I rather not take the risk. So I'll just stick with Romaine lettuce. Besides, Romaine lettuce does not have a bitter taste. You'll never even taste it in your smoothies because the taste is so mild and it's easily hidden by the fruits that you add in your smoothie. The other ingredients that I love to add in any of my green smoothies to make them taste delicious are as follows:<br />

1. Banana / Frozen banana (very important ingredient to add in any green smoothies).<br />
2. Honey (if you want to sweeten your green smoothies).<br />
3. Any type of berries (I've used strawberries before).<br />
4. Mango juice / Frozen mango.<br />
5. Pineapple juice.<br />
6. Kiwi.<br />
7. Green grapes.<br />
8. Coconut water and it's soft flesh.<br />
9. Lemon (alkalizing) <br />

So those are the things that you can add in your green smoothies. Choose whichever you like but make sure to at least add one banana in it as it will make your green smoothies tastes yummier. As for portions, it depends on how much you want each ingredients in the smoothie. For me, I always put Romaine lettuce the most. 70% leafy greens and 30% fruits.<br />

One more thing I like to add to my green smoothies is this liquid chlorophyll. It is a pure extract of the mulberry leaves. I'm growing a few mulberry trees now in my garden. Hopefully someday I no longer need to buy this liquid chlorophyll and get my own liquid chlorophyll by juicing the mulberry leaves. This liquid chlorophyll has a very dark green colour. But when I pour it in my green smoothies, I don't taste it at all. Because it has no strong taste of chlorophyll. Some prefer to just add it in plain water and drink it straight in the morning, just like that. But I prefer it in my smoothies :).</div>

There are so many benefits of chlorophyll to our body. It helps to rebuild and replenish our red blood cells, boosting our energy and increasing our well being almost instantly. Apart from it being highly alkaline, it is also anti-carcinogenic. Liquid chlorophyll has strong antioxidant and is anti inflammatory too. It also has the ability to bind and remove toxic heavy metals such as mercury. In recent research, chlorophyll has shown to be effective in fighting candida. Chlorophyll also has a double action remedy for bad breath. It eliminates odor in the mouth and throat, but more importantly it promotes and healthy digestive tract (which is the primary reason for bad breath).</div>

If you want to really detox your body and not use any fruits at all in your smoothies, you can try making green smoothies that only has vegetables and herbs in it. I've tried it before but I had to add one green apple to it as I couldn't take it 100% vegetables. It is important for it to taste nice otherwise I won't be able to drink it at all. But if you are able to take 100% vegetables, then that's great! I have yet to be able to do that. Haha!</div>

For as long as I remember, I have always been a big eater. I'm quite famous for that in my family (sad to say). Since small, I had been the one who always seems to be hungry all the time. I had no idea why. I was never obese back then because I was always active as a child. I'm not obese now either. But I have big bones. And I am tall. Therefore, I can't afford to be obese because if I was, then I'll look like a GIANT.</div>

Having said that, I am however overweight now. Not fat, just overweight. HAHAHAHA!! (In denial). Anyways, I have always tried to lose the fat and I have always tried to lead a healthy lifestyle over the years. But it has always been tough doing so. I was always in and out of it. I had problems staying in for a long period of time due to my constant cravings for fattening foods. If only I had cravings for healthy types of food. Like for instance having cravings for CELERY....bwahahahahahah!!! Then I'll never have problems with my weight. I WISH!!</div>

The thing is, I never thought I could EVER stop the cravings....EVER!!! Until now. It feels weird not having cravings at all. Seriously. It is as if, my body is satisfied with what I've been feeding it with and therefore, it's not itching for anything else. This is NEW for me. I just couldn't figure out as to why this is happening to me. Until one day I saw a video over on YouTube and there was this girl talking about how taking smoothies has curbed all her food cravings and then it HIT me! Wow! Smoothies stopped her from craving all the sweet stuff and all the food that she had trouble staying away from. That sounded just like me!</div>

So all this time it was the clean eating.....the juices....the smoothies.....but I believe it is more because of the smoothies. This is because, the smoothies had more ingredients in it that kept me full for longer period of time compared to the juices. I really noticed how much taking smoothies has affected me now compared to when I was only taking juices. I was taking juices for a few months but I still had the cravings and it was really bad. </div>

I'm glad now I can walk in the supermarket and not feel any fear whenever I see the chocolate aisle or feel any itch to buy cream puffs at the bread aisle. So this really helps when I am trying to develop a clean and healthy lifestyle. Because I can't be getting well if I can't control my cravings. It will be a very difficult process to try to be healthy for a few hours and then binge for the rest of the day. Imagine doing all the exercise and not getting any results because of the binging. It just won't work. </div>

I have a lot of issues to deal with when it comes to health because honestly for me it's not just about losing the weight. It's about feeling good about myself, feeling healthy as I have always been feeling so sick for so many years. It's about controlling my allergies too. God knows how much I have suffered because of the allergies. I almost gave up on it. I just didn't know how else to stop it. </div>

I've met so many people here who have suffered from allergies just like me. Some even suffered worse than me and have completely given up hope. These people just wanted to die. I know how they feel. I know how much it hurts. I've been there. And I don't blame them for feeling the way they do. It's really tough. They have been feeding on the wrong food all their lives. Food that harms them.....not food that heals. Just like me, they didn't know. No one educated them on it and they didn't know where to seek help. Doctors don't know everything! I myself took so many years to finally find a solution that worked for me. Each person heals differently. It's so subjective. I hope I can help them heal some how. But they need to believe. Without the believe, the healing journey can never begin.</div>

I am just grateful for all the knowledge that I have now about health and how it has affected me and my health in general. Even though I have much to learn about it. I am learning everyday. To juice or to blend? Juicing basically means that juice from the fruits or vegetables is separated from the pulp when using a juicer, and blending means that neither the juice or the pulp is separated or removed from the blender. Everything stays in. So which one will I be getting? That was what kept circling in my mind when I first started thinking about how to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in my diet by drinking them. I'm not saying that I shouldn't be eating my fruits and vegetables anymore and turn to drinking them instead but I'm just saying that by juicing or blending them, I'll get maximum absorption of nutrients in my body. Chewing fruits and vegies takes too long to process and basically it means I'll eat them less because I'll get tired of chewing so much of them in a day. I'm very sure that I can eat more vegetables and fruits in a day by drinking them.</div>

SO!! It was either to make juices or to make smoothies. I have never blended my fruits and vegetables together before. So I couldn't imagine how I would take it. But I have taken fruit juices before at restaurants and they tasted really good. But would I be able to swallow a smoothie it as easy as I could a juice? So out of fear of not being able to swallow blended fruits and vegetables, I opted to get myself a slow juicer first. Yes, a slow juicer just like the photo you see above. But that was the second one I got after I bought the manual slow juicer like the photo you can see in my previous post. An electric slow juicer is so much more convenient and saves me a lot of time. They are very expensive but SO WORTH IT!!!!</div>

Why a slow juicer and not a centrifugal juicer? Well, I decided to get a slow juicer because after doing much research on the net, I found out that the best juice you'll ever get is by juicing with a slow juicer. This is because a slow juicer can make cold-pressed juices which means it does not expose the juice to heat and oxygen in the process, both of which degrades nutrients in the juice. That's why they call it "cold" pressed juices....because no "heat" is involved. I've tasted juices made from centrifugal juicers before and boy oh boy there is a HUGE difference between the two. Cold-pressed juices are so much more tastier. They don't oxidize as fast as juices made from centrifugal juicers too. So you can keep the juice in your fridge for more than 24 hours and they will still taste great the next day. </div>

The only thing that bothers me about slow juicers is that, it is not as flexible as a blender. You won't be able to juice certain fruits and vegetables with a slow juicer. For instance.....like bananas, kiwis and other soft flesh fruits and vegetables. If they are too soft, then it's difficult to get juice out of them. Certain herbs like parsley, cilantro would be a waste to juice as they are small and don't have much juice in them. They will just end up coming out from the juicer looking like mashed fruits and vegetables. So, it will be a waste to juice them. That's when a blender comes in handy for these types of fruits and vegetables.</div>

After much research, by Googling, YouTubing, Instagraming etc......I found out about personal blenders. A personal blender is just like the one you see in the above photo. Of course the first thing that I wanted to buy was a high powered blender like Vitamix. I've heard a lot about Vitamix. But the thing is.....it's too BIG! I kept thinking about the space I have at home and where am I going to put it. I knew that it would be wiser to just get me a personal blender for the time being just in case I didn't like how a smoothie would taste. In case I didn't want to continue making smoothies, at least I won't feel so bad, unlike if I were to spend a lot of money on a blender like the Vitamix. Yes, my friends, Vitamix is so much more expensive compared to a personal blender. Booohoooohooooo!!</div>

BUT!!! No more tears as now that I have tried the personal blender, I am super happy about it. Believe it or not, I have to say that it is the most used electrical appliance that I have in my kitchen! I use it everyday. Worth every cent I spent on it. Before I bought this personal blender, I made sure that it is going to work if not as good as the Vitamix, at least let be good enough to blend all the fruits and vegetables to teeny tiny pieces and end up looking so smooth and liquid, so much so that I won't have trouble drinking it. THAT I MADE SURE! Because I'm not going to spend money on something that won't do a good job in making smoothies. </div>

The best thing about a personal blender is that it's something that you can use to blend anything you want and go off anywhere with it after the job is done. You can take it to work, to the gym or anywhere you fancy. Blend everything inside the tumbler and drink straight from it. No need to transfer your smoothie to a mug or plastic container like you would need to do if you use a normal blender. Since it's small in size, cleaning is a breeze. So convenient.</div>

Another reason for me to like blending more is because I don't wastes anything from it. No pulp is removed from fruits and vegetables, therefore I get more fiber in my diet. I feel fuller every time I take a smoothie. I feel full for hours compared to drinking a juice. Another plus side is that I get to add other ingredients to it like milk, protein powders, nuts, dried fruits and so much more to a blender. You can never do that with a juicer. So I'll get to make more interesting drinks with a blender. It's like making a whole meal from it. If I didn't have the time to cook, then making a smoothie solves the problem.</div>

But having said that, I must say that I do love them both. Both have their own benefits. Juicing removes all the insoluble fiber from fruits and vegetables (meaning the pulp). Although fiber is good for you, because it keeps your digestive track healthy and slows down the absorption of sugar but it also slows down the absorption of nutrients and some nutrients stays in the fiber. If I juice, it means that I extract 70% of the nutrients from the fruits and vegetables and the juice gets absorbed into my body 100% and quickly too. The nutrients get in your body fast, easy digestion but doesn't keep you full that long.</div>

Blending fruits and vegetables means that you get both insoluble and soluble fibers in your diet. Slow release of nutrients and keeps you full longer. So basically, it's all up to me. Do what suits me for that particular time. Or do according to what I have available at hand. Some times, I don't have enough fruits or vegetables for juicing but I can use them for making smoothies instead by combining them with other ingredients. So it's all good no matter what. What's important is that I don't stop making them. Don't ever quit. :) </div>
